About the Blythewood High School Band

The Blythewood High School Band, proudly known as The Blue Legion, is a dynamic and accomplished program serving over 100 student musicians in Blythewood, South Carolina. It features multiple concert ensembles, a highly competitive marching band, a vibrant Winter Guard program, and various chamber groups, offering students a well-rounded and high-level music education.

Blythewood High School Band students frequently set themselves apart by earning spots in Region and All-State Bands, making Blythewood one of the most highly represented schools in those ensembles. Its concert bands are consistently recognized with Superior ratings at Concert Performance Assessments and received an invitation to perform at the South Carolina Music Educators Association (SCMEA) Conference, reflecting the program’s statewide reputation for excellence. In 2025, the South Carolina General Assembly passed Senate Resolution 638, formally commending the band for its outstanding achievements and impact on the community.

Led by dedicated directors and supported by a strong booster organization, the Blythewood Band fosters growth in musicianship, leadership, and school pride—on the field, on stage, and beyond.
